NEW CLASSES AT BETHESDA!

Victoria will now be taking an 11.00am Pilates class on Tuesdays and a 1.00pm Pilates class on Wednesdays at Bethesda.

Steve's S&C classes will now be 6.00am Tuesdays and 12.00pm Thursdays at Bethesda.

Chris Perkin nominated for the WA 2014 Pride of Australia Community Spirit Award

Body Logic & West Coast Eagles Physiotherapist Chris Perkin has been nominated as a Finalist for the WA 2014 Pride of Australia Community Spirit Award! For the past two years, Chris has organised the SIDS and Kids WA Sunshine Beach Run, which raises money and awareness for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

REMINDER: Preventing Injury for Teens classes at Bethesda Claremont with Nicole - Term 3, 2014.

Doing specific sporting strength exercises can help prevent injuries. Nicole Robb is offering 'Prehab for Teens' in Term 3, 2014: Tuesdays 4-5pm & Fridays 7-8am to help teach kids aged 10-18 strength, coordination, flexibility and endurance techniques to prevent injuries before they occur.

Sports Injuries in Adolescents - Case Studies Lecture with Nicole Robb - Tues 30th Sep

Three case studies will be presented outlining adolescent sporting injury presentations:
* ACL injuries in adolescent females
* Low back pain in rowing
* The hypermobile adolescent in sport
The presentations will touch on issues of training loads in the growing athlete, communicating effectively with teenagers and their parents. There will be time for further questions & discussion on the considerations & challenges when treating sporting injuries in adolescents.

Professor Peter O’Sullivan on Tiger Woods’ back and ‘core strength' - BMJ talk medicine PODCAST

 

In this podcast Professor Peter O'Sullivan shares his thoughts on the recent media attention around Tiger Woods' obvious back pain while playing in the US PGA. He discusses what the pathology might be, why the media suggested that Mr Woods’ ‘sacrum went out’. He contends that ‘core strengthening’ may not be the panacea. The lessons apply to the management of low back pain, and other pain, in a myriad of settings.

Peter is a Specialist Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2005) and Professor at Curtin Univeristy.
